My husband and I have bought three video monitors and this one is far superior than the other two. The first monitor we bought was portable like this one but didn’t last very long. The second, had a bigger monitor so it wasn’t portable and was terrible for both sound and picture quality. So when my husband and I went looking for another video monitor, we knew what we wanted and this system meets all the criteria.
First, the monitor itself is very small and easy to carry. It seems very well constructed and has a long lariat so you can wear it around your neck. The monitor tells you the temperature of your child’s room and the time. It has a sleep feature which is nice, it turns the monitor on automatically when sound and movement are detected. You can also set an alarm feature to alert you of movement, but we haven’t needed it.
The cameras are also well constructed, and the two cameras come preprogrammed with the monitor for easy set up. The cameras play lullabies, by pushing a button on the camera itself (you can not activate that feature through the monitor but that is not that big a deal to us.) You can also add more cameras as needed (which we did) the monitor can support a total of four cameras, and the set up on the extra camera was pretty easy. It took me about five minutes after I figured out you have to program/reprogram all the cameras to the monitor at the same time when you get the new one. We use two of the cameras in our 18 month old’s room. She has some special needs and it is great to be able to see her from more than one angle. The other camera is set up in our three old’s room. He moves around in bed a lot and it is nice to be able to reposition him so he doesn’t fall out of bed.
The only reason I did not give this five stars is because of the sound. The sound isn’t on all the time through the monitor, it clicks on automatically when sound is picked up by the cameras. The only problem with this is that there is a slight delay. If your child is crying it will pick it up, but if it is a smaller sound like our daughter’s feed pump going off it won’t come through the monitor.
