I have to disagree with the other posts. I have been through probably 4 different cameras in 3 years between 2 kids. This is the best company. The picture is not absolutely perfect, but if you position the camera CORRECTLY, it’s pretty good. There are 2 frequencies so you can have 2 of the same monitors for 2 kids with no interference. There is also a volume control which allows you to pick any volume setting. We also have a Summers Monitor and HATE IT. The Summers monitor has a crystal clear picture- but there are 2 volume settings- Loud and Louder. Although this device is intended for babies, I see no reason that it can’t be used with the elderly, or the infirmed just as well. The set up was a breeze. Battery life was acceptable, but naturally should be kept an eye on if used away from the charging station for an extended period.

The “intercom function” (for lack of better term) provided good reception on both sides, under conditions that regular walkie talkies usually give me poor reception. Communication between the “parent” device and the monitoring device exceeded my expectations. This is one of those “your mileage may vary” factors, but this unit worked well with this function where other devices usually give me no signal at all. Not hi-fi, but a good simple, voice communication, that allows you to monitor the sounds and by definition speech, too, in another room. The monitoring device does not even need to be touched by the other person for you to hear that they need something. The parent device has a push to talk button.

If the radio reception between the two units is broken, such as by the monitoring end getting unplugged without batteries, knocked down, etc., a loud alert will sound on the “parent” unit with a flashing blue light.

There is also a temperature readout sent to the “parent unit” for monitoring basic environmental conditions.

Babies and some adults with humor should get a kick out of the “lullaby” feature if used sparingly.

It is better then not using anything at all, and my wife was just not to motivated to use paper and pen charting. The price seems far, although not sure if it would be worth much more. I received the Bebe Sounds Flat Panel LCD Video Monitor as a shower gift and it was totally useless. The interference was so bad that we literally could not see or hear anything. So, I started researching video baby monitors and finally decided to purchase this one and I am very happy with my purchase. Most importantly, the picture and sound are very clear. No interference at all from our wireless network or phones. We live in a three story house and I can clearly see and hear my son in his crib from anywhere in the house, even our basement TV room. I was pleasantly surprised that the picture remained so clear in the basement given that we can’t get a good signal from our wireless router down there. We use a white noise machine in the nursery so the voice recognition capability is nice. I also like that I can turn the volume off but still see the noise-indicating lights. The menu is very easy to use. Set up was a breeze. I usually plug in the hand held unit by our bed at night and haven’t had any problems with the battery life. Lastly, the styling is among the best available with a large screen.

I do not have a shelf or flat surface near the crib to set the camera on and I don’t want to mount it on the wall because I want it to be portable. The good news about this camera is that it is so lightweight that I can attach it to the wall with a velcro-type fastener without any concern about it falling and still take the camera with us when we travel. I debated whether to get a camera with zoom and pan capabilities (this one zooms only) but decided it wasn’t necessary since this camera shows the whole crib. The monitors that have a motor on the camera allowing them to move make them very heavy.

Unlike other reviewers, I don’t find the blue LED light on the camera very bright. However, there is a flashing blue light on the monitor when the battery is charging that is a stupid design flaw; there is also a tiny battery icon (like a cell phone would have) that also tells you how much battery life you have left or whether the battery is charging so the flashing blue light is definitely overkill. I like to sleep with the monitor right next to my bed so I suppose I could cover it with electrical tape if it becomes too distracting. Also, I agree with other reviewers that there is no need for the unit to beep when adjusting the volume. A volume dial would be more useful. I also have found the thermometer to be a few degrees warmer than the actual temperature but I don’t care about this feature. We bought this for our daughter after it was clear that she hated sleeping in her co-sleeper crib. Apparently being *next* to our bed wasn’t close enough – she wanted to be *in* bed with us Because co-sleeping is dangerous without protection for newborns, we researched and found this product.

We have a queen-sized bed, and the snuggle nest did make it a tight fit for everyone. But being next to our baby, hearing her breathe, and being able to easily turn over and nurse her made it very worthwhile. I’m exclusively breastfeeding, and those first weeks where she nursed seemingly all the time would have been twice as bad had I not been able to nurse her while still in bed.

The mattress is compact and sturdy (as it’s supposed to be), and the side bolsters did a good job of preventing her from wiggling too far to the right or the left. The LED nightlight was very impressive – effective without being glaring. All of the fabric parts are removable from the plastic shell and machine washable. The ease of folding up the bed meant that we took it with us when we traveled with her – no crib needed in a hotel or grandma’s house, we just unfolded the snuggle nest. That alone was a big stress reducer.

Now for a downside – your child may grow out of it very quickly. Our daughter is a long baby, and we started noticing a tight fit as early as three months old. By 3 1/2 months, we decided to transition her back to a crib. Thankfully she was as ready as we were, and now at 4 months she sleeps in her own crib all night. All in all, it was a great purchase and we certainly will keep the snuggle nest for use with our next child.
