We’ve been using this sound monitor for 5 years now, and it has been utterly dependable. There have been only two drawbacks: (1) The range is not all that great. With our daughter’s room at one side of the house, and our room at the other, we have had to move the pickup unit to far wall of her bedroom so it will be as close as possible to ours. (2) There are 9 channels on our older model. When we started using this 5 years ago, any channel worked fine. But, times change, and there is a lot more RF interference: it will occasionally pick up our neighbor’s cell phone conversations (not that interesting!); and the background suppression is now being affected by something—we haven’t quite figured out what. Having the full 27 channels this model offers is doubtless an improvement over the version we have. I use this to make sure our dog goes out the doggy door in the basement when it’s raining instead of on the basement floor. It works well but it does have a line across the screen and always moves to the bottem the whole time you have it on. So the picture isn’t as clear but it does the job and that’s all I needed. The old one started conking out and I’d have to reset it every few days (turn power off and then on on the camera downstairs – which started really defeating the purpose). The picture was much more clear without interference and I believe the old one was the same name as the new one, Astak (the old camera doesn’t have a name on it anywhere). Anyway, I cought her going in the basement (which is, I’m told, what you have to do to be able to change that behavior) and told her to go outside. She did and we’ve had no more accidents when it’s raining. Thanks to Astak. This camera works great. We have a baby that for health reasons we need to be able to closely monitor, we have tried four other baby monitors the only one that came close to being a keeper was the Mobi. The camera on that one has a rotating lens and you can get every angle and the picture was great, however it and all of the had horrible intereference. I gave this camera a four because you have to rotate the entire unit as it is attached to the metal base. Not great if you don’t want to permanently mount it. It is also a little harder to get all angles. But overall great and I have ordered an additional camera. Also, they are working on an outdoor camera that should be available by November so I should be able to add on and use to monitor the pool outside. We received this baby monitor as a gift and after seeing how expensive it is, I am glad we didn’t have to pay anything for it. We have been using it for 18 months now and it picks up a lot of interference: microwave, computer from the condo above us, etc. However, the night vision is excellent and the sound and picture quality is excellent. If it wasn’t for the interference every once in a while, I would love it. Also, about 6 months ago it completely stopped working for no reason. …because I probably would not have bought this monitor and I LOVE it. It has all of the features that I did not know I needed. I can hear, see and feel if the monitor is going off. The sound is so sensitive that on the lowest setting, with her sound machine running, I can hear her breathing. I love that I can hear her breathing. The only issue I have is that the on/off button turns off a little easy and sometimes I don’t realize I have turned it off.
